After coming up just short on Wednesday evening, the Philadelphia 76ers found themselves with a chance for redemption against the Orlando Magic. A strong performance from an unlikely hero allowed them to move on to miniseries and earn their sixth win of the season.

The Sixers got some key reinforcements in Friday’s rematch as Paul George and Andre Drummond returned to action. However, it was KJ Martin’s play that was ultimately the most remarkable.

Martin performed strongly in the first match between these teams, but really came alive the second time around. In 31 minutes off the bench, he scored a season-high 20 points, along with three rebounds and two assists. What stood out most was his efficiency: 9-for-10 from the field and 1-for-2 from beyond the arc.

After the Sixers’ 102-94 win, Martin reflected on where his focus is each game. He takes the floor every night and tries to boost the team, and he feels great after being able to contribute in such a big way.

“Every night I try to go out and play as hard as I can,” Martin said. “Playing at a high level and having the support of my teammate, so I feel like that’s why I’m successful. I don’t try to get too high or too low, just try to stay on level. It feels good to go out go and play well.” above all, really achieve a victory.”

Friday is easily the best Martin has seen during his tenure with the Sixers, producing on both ends of the floor. Like some of his other teammates, the young forward is making the most of his opportunity to play longer minutes. After outings like this, Nick Nurse will have a hard time not giving Martin a chance for consistent playing time.

The Sixers are back in action on Sunday afternoon against the Bulls in Chicago.
